To help prepare you to apply for housing and to live on campus, we offer this housing guide containing important information about your college, housing options, and answers to many commonly asked questions about campus housing.
It is our goal to provide you with an academically and socially supportive environment that will help you build a strong connection with the campus and get the most out of your UCSC experience.
We look forward to having you as part of our campus community!
Crown College was founded in 1967 as the third college in the UC Santa Cruz system. Our theme, “Science, Technology, and Society,” explores the relationship of science and technology with the world around us. Although we have traditionally been viewed as the “science college”, and the majority of our affiliated faculty are from the science fields, half of our student body major in other fields.
Crown College is a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge in an atmosphere of open discussion and mutual respect. In the embracing of this diversity, we find stimulation, freedom and strength. Freedom to express one’s opinions and beliefs is of the utmost importance.
We strongly encourage student involvement in college activities and community service in addition to your academic commitments.
The Crown Student Senate (CSS), the college student government, is an excellent way to participate in student life here at the university. CSS allocates college membership fees to fund various campus organizations, programs and popular college traditions, and serves as the student voice on central campus committees.
In addition to CSS, the Crown College Programs office supports Program Assistants, who are students who are paid to plan small and large-scale events at the college. These events include dances, movie nights, field trips, speakers and much more. Take advantage of all the ways to be involved!
Crown College sponsors the annual Social Fiction Conference, which is a conference exploring the intersections of Social Justice, Science Fiction, Gaming and Fantasy. Students, faculty, staff and community members alike work together to present engaging workshops and interactive activities.
You’ll discover that much of our programming depends on you. Volunteer your ideas to make this experience everything you wish.
