Fall 2025 move-in schedule
Fall move-in takes place September 18–23!
Find information about your move-in date, time, and check-in location in the schedule below. Please note that your move-in day is determined by your housing assignment location, not your college affiliation.
New freshman move-in dates
Move-in for new freshmen is by appointment, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Sign up for a move-in appointment in the Housing Portal.

Check-in location
When you arrive on campus, please make your way to the check-in location for your community (see table above) at your move-in appointment date/time. You can proceed to the check-in table for your community while your family and friends park and visit the Family Engagement Tables.
Instructions on where to unload your belongings will be provided when you check in.
Important: Students and families are asked to unload belongings within 15 minutes. We understand this is a short amount of time, however it is needed to keep move-in running smoothly for all students.
After unloading, you are welcome to park at one of the alternative lots and return to the student’s room to unpack. This can also be a great time to get some shopping done off-campus, and return later in the day when traffic is less of an issue.

If you’re a new international student required to attend orientation, you’ll need to apply for the Early Arrival Program. For additional information on important instructions and actions you need to take, please be sure to visit International Student Orientation.

- Monday, September 22–Tuesday, September 23 | 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Note: Move-in appointment times for Saturday, September 20, and Sunday, September 21, are limited due to multiple student populations moving in on these dates. Appointment slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

FAQ: Move-in dates
When is the Fall 2025 move-in date for my specific college/community?
See schedule above for move-in dates. Visit the Housing Portal beginning Wednesday, August 20 to access your room assignment and roommate/housemate information.
Will students be assigned a specific move-in date or will they be able to move in within any of the given dates?
Students receive move-in instructions beginning August 20, 2025. At that time, students need to select an available move-in appointment time on their college/community move-in days.
I can’t move in on my assigned move-in date. Can I move in on a different day?
Move-in at UC Santa Cruz happens over multiple days. We recommend signing up for an appointment time on the day that works best for you. If you are unable to move-in during any of the scheduled move-in days, please contact your college/community housing office.
Can a student move in earlier than the scheduled Move-in date?
