Every UC Santa Cruz undergraduate is affiliated with one of the 10 colleges. Your college doesn’t impact your choice of major—but it does provide a built-in community with its own events, programs, and academic support.
First-year students take a required core course through their college, and most live in their affiliated college’s residence halls. Transfer students of all college affiliations live together in the Transfer Community and other transfer-focused residential areas, creating built-in connections with peers navigating similar transitions. For transfer and continuing students, regardless of where you live, your college remains a hub for advising, involvement, and connection throughout your time at UCSC.
