Quarter Breaks
Winter Break
The period between fall and winter quarters—winter break—is not covered by the academic year housing contract.

In addition to the campus dining halls and most other dining locations being closed during the winter break, the residential facilities at the ten colleges, The Village, University Town Center and University Inn will be closed from 12:00 noon on Friday, December 11, 2009 through Saturday, January 2, 2010.
Students may choose to return to the residences at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 3, however, limited dining service in the campus dining halls will be available. Normal meal service will resume with brunch on Monday, January 4, 2010.
Students who have a valid need to remain in residence during the weekend following fall finals (Dec. 11–13) may request a winter break contract extension. Requests will be limited to these specific dates and are subject to the review and approval of the student’s college/residential facility.

The contract extension request form is available at your college/residential facility housing office or online via the pdf link below:

Your completed request form is due at your college/residential facility by 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. You will be notified of application approval or denial within 48 hours of submitting your request.

Spring Break
The period of residence between winter and spring quarters is covered by the academic year housing contract for the colleges, The Village, University Inn, and University Town Center. Although there is no additional fee, students may be required to submit a written request to remain in residence during any portion of the break period. Please note that dining service in the dining halls is not available during this time. For more information, please contact the Housing Coordinator at your community of residence.
Graduate Student
Housing
The housing contract for Graduate Student Housing is for the full academic year (through the end of June), and students may stay in residence during all academic breaks.
