Housing Options
UC Santa Cruz offers a variety of housing options, including traditional residence halls and college apartments. Continuing students from all colleges are eligible to live at The Village, University Town Center, or Redwood Grove, and can request each other as roommates or housemates.
Room options at each community
Apartments are
generally reserved for seniors and juniors (and some sophomores).
Continuing Student Themed Residence Halls
Sophomores (as well as juniors and
seniors) should consider one of our continuing student
themed residence halls that are focused on the needs of
students above the freshman level. It’s a great opportunity
to have an incredible second-year experience and live close
to your friends.
Other highlights of these areas:
- located in our most desirable buildings (some with great ocean views!)
- more single and double rooms
- a more independent living community
- the option to stay in your current room (for students currently living in the residence halls) and/or create your own “neighborhood” by selecting adjacent residence hall rooms with a group of friends
Redwood Grove Apartments
Redwood Grove is a quiet and studious apartment community for continuing seniors (and juniors, space permitting) from all colleges. There are 28 apartments, each with four single bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom. There are two additional apartments, each with one single and one double bedroom. Ground floor apartments have decks, while upper apartments have private balconies.
The
Village
The Village features buildings with nine single bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a kitchenette
(no meal plan required). Residents have access to a spacious community building with complete
kitchen stations and a dining area, and an on-site laundry facility. If you want to live on
campus with friends from other colleges, this may be the ideal community for you!
University
Town Center
The University Town Center has two- and three-person
studio apartments with kitchenettes (no meal plan required)
and private bathrooms, a community lounge with large screen
TV and full kitchen for community events, and a study lounge.
The Town Center is located on the corner of Pacific and
Cathcart streets in downtown Santa Cruz, amidst all that
downtown has to offer, including cafes, restaurants, shops,
galleries, museum, movie theaters, library and more!
