During the 2009 spring quarter the Porter/Kresge Dining Hall and the Hungry
Slug Cafe will close as renovation work begins on Porter's Building-C. UC Santa Cruz Dining
appreciates your patience during the temporary inconvenience of this renovation project,
and looks forward to serving you in an improved facility.
Meal plan holders can eat at any open dining hall, as is always true. To
help meet the needs of students in the vicinity of the renovation, the College Eight/Oakes
Dining Hall is modified with dual-sided cashier station, double serving areas for food, expanded
beverage service in the dining room, plus outdoor seating for over 100 people. Also during
the renovation project, UC Santa Cruz Dining is operating a sandwich shop inside Kresge's
Town Hall, which will focus on quick service with fresh, made-to-order subs, grab-and-go
snacks, bottled beverages, and espresso drinks. Hours for the eatery—dubbed Town Hall Subs—are
Monday to Friday 12noon–3PM. The first day of service is March 30th. Payment options at Town
Hall Subs include Flexi Dollars, 55- and 75-Meal equivalency, cash, and credit/debit cards.
Other eateries on the west side of campus are Kresge's Owl's Nest restaurant,
Oakes Cafe, and College Eight Cafe. Additionally, there are twelve other places on campus
where students can sit down for meals or pick up snacks including: College Nine/Ten Dining
Hall, Crown/Merrill Dining Hall, Terra Fresca at University Center, Banana Joe's at Crown,
Perk Coffee Bar (Physical Sciences, Baskin Engineering, Earth and Marine, and McHenry Library),
Tacos Moreno at Merrill, The Back Perch at the ARC, and at Quarry Plaza are Joe's Pizza &
Subs, and
the Express Store. Hours and phone numbers for eateries are available at dining.ucsc.edu/locations.html.
