Porter College is in the midst of a major renovation. Currently the student residences in Building-B are closed as crews are at work on upgrades that will include enhanced living spaces, improved safety, and an energy efficient building. Building-B is scheduled to reopen in fall 2009. At the close of the 2008-09 academic year, Building A residence hall will begin similar renovation work that is planned to continue to fall 2010.
In spring 2009 when the dining hall at Cowell College reopens, Porter’s Building-C, which contains the Porter/Kresge dining hall, Hungry Slug Cafe, and adjacent spaces will close as renovation work begins there. UC Santa Cruz Dining is preparing to operate an alternate eatery on the west side of campus during the renovation. Work on Building-C is expected to wrap up for a January 2010 reopening.
