ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Introduction to University Discourse: Social Justice and Community is the required fall-quarter course for all College Ten first-year students. The seminar addresses the college’s focus on social justice issues while developing students’ writing,
reading, oral-presentation,
and critical-thinking skills.
EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
- Exploring Social Justice Issues, an optional two-credit class, examines current
problems related to social injustice. Students can gain
experience as teachers by enrolling in Teaching
Social Justice.
- In the Praxis service-learning program, students volunteer or earn course credit for working at a community school or agency.
- The distinguished College Ten Leadership Certificate is
awarded to students who actively participate in a series of leadership programs, workshops, and volunteer opportunities.
- College Ten co-sponsors student opportunities with campus research centers focusing on social justice, such as the Center for Justice, Tolerance, and Community (CJTC).
- Students enjoy music, spoken word, and a relaxed environment at the student-run Café Revolutión.
HOUSING AND DINING

Residence halls and apartment buildings house students in single, double, and triple rooms.
- All two and four-bedroom apartments have full kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, and internet connections. Ground-floor apartments have decks, and upper apartments have private balconies.
