ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
The core course, Writing Across the Arts, addresses social, political, and aesthetic issues raised by selected works of literature and art in a variety of media. Students participate in seminars, group discussions,
and performance events. They work in small groups with the core course
instructors to develop their skills in writing, verbal
presentation, and critical reading and analysis.
EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
- Residential theme areas include Visual Arts, Film
and Digital Media, Performing Arts, Outdoor Experiences and Gender Studies.
- Residential housing option halls include Quiet/Intensive Study, Substance-Free, Co-ed, Women's Hall, Men's Hall, and Transfer area.
- Student organizations include the Porter Senate, Women’s Collective and Lavender Lounge (GLBTIQ).
- Several funding resources are available for Porter student projects through Porter Senate Grants, Creative and Initiative Grants, Porter College Undergraduate Fellowships, Porter Research Fellowships and the Hitchcock Poetry Fund.
- The large dining hall
converts into theater space and is the venue for several major campus cultural events.
- One of the two computer
labs specializes in digital media, filmmaking, and
computer music.
- Porter’s architecture is designed on the concept of a modern Japanese village.
HOUSING AND DINING
- Students are housed in two residence halls.
- Apartments house students in a combination of single, double and triple rooms.
